PAIS is having a positive impact

Peter Walton, PASS-CR’s lead on the Pacific Agricultural Information System (PAIS), recently visited the Papua New Guinea University of Technology (Unitech). The purpose of the visit was to follow up on initial discussions regarding the Dept of Agriculture’s journal, Niugini Agrisaiens, and academic research and activities. After four days of workshops and meetings, it became clear that Unitech could benefit greatly from collaborating with PAIS, to secure and document their academic research and associated activities, and better promote and showcase their work. To this end, a ‘space’ has been created on PAIS for the Department; a similar space will be created for the Department of Forestry. To view the Unitech Department of Agriculture space, click here.

All articles published in Niugini Agrisaiens are being added to PAIS. Niugini Agrisaiens will become only the second fully indexed, open access journal for agriculture in the Pacific. The other is PNG Coffee Journal. There are plans to add digitised articles for other Pacific agriculture journals that have already been included in the Pacific Index to Agricultural Journals.
